Description

Saddle seating · Designed by Peter Opsvik

The lighter, leaner way into active sitting

The Capisco Puls 8020 takes everything that made the original Capisco different — the saddle seat, the sit-stand range, the freedom to face forward, reversed or side-on — and puts it in a lighter shell with a moulded plastic back and a cushioned seat pad. It’s the same idea for less outlay, and it’s the version most people meet first: in a study, a share house, a hybrid home office, or a first proper chair for a growing desk-user.

Why it suits Australian workplaces

Sit-stand desks are standard in most fitted-out offices now, and the Puls 8020 covers the full height range on a lighter, easier-to-move chair — a genuine option for hot-desking, share offices and home setups where budget and floor space both matter.

  • Built for sit-stand
Perch height suits a raised desk without a separate stool, so one chair covers both working heights.
  • Opens the hip angle
The saddle profile encourages a more open hip position than a flat seat pan, which helps the pelvis stay upright.
  • Encourages movement
HÅG inBalance lets the seat flow with your movement instead of locking you into one fixed angle.
  • Ten-year guarantee
Covered for ten years against manufacturing defects in normal use up to nine hours a day.

Adjustments and detail

Saddle seat, cushioned

The two-part saddle seat lets you sit astride it, side-saddle or reversed. On the Puls, the seat carries a shaped cushion for comfort while the shell underneath stays light and easy to keep clean.

Moulded shell back

A one-piece plastic backrest instead of a fully upholstered one — lighter, wipeable, and the main difference between the Puls and the standard Capisco.

HÅG inBalance tilt

A balanced, flowing tilt with adjustable backward resistance, plus a lockable seat for when you want it to stay put.

Seat depth adjustment

Slide the seat forward or back to set the gap behind your knees, so shorter and taller users can share the same chair.

Three gas lift options

150 mm, 200 mm and 265 mm columns are available. The 200 mm suits most standard desks; the 265 mm is the one to order if the chair lives at a sit-stand desk.

Five-star footbase

A stable five-point base as standard, with HÅG StepUp and HÅG FootRing available as accessories for extra foot support at standing height.

Made to last, and made to be taken apart

The most sustainable chair is the one nobody has to replace. The Puls is designed for disassembly without special tools — so individual parts can be repaired or replaced rather than the whole chair being scrapped.

Per HÅG’s own product factsheet, the Capisco Puls 8020 contains 39% recycled material (post-consumer and post-industrial waste), with a carbon footprint of 39.4 kg CO₂ equivalents per chair. It’s certified to ISO 14001, holds an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), and meets GREENGUARD and Möbelfakta standards for low chemical emissions and social responsibility.

Common questions

What’s the difference between the Capisco and the Capisco Puls?

The standard Capisco has a fully upholstered seat and back. The Puls has a moulded plastic shell back and a cushioned seat pad rather than full upholstery — same saddle design and adjustment range, lighter chair, lower price point.

Which gas lift should I order?

For a fixed-height desk around 720–730 mm, the 200 mm lift covers almost everyone. If the chair will be used at a sit-stand desk in its raised position, order the 265 mm lift and add a HÅG FootRing — otherwise your feet will hang unsupported at standing height.

Is a saddle chair comfortable if I have never used one?

There is an adjustment period, and it is worth being upfront about that. Most people need one to two weeks before the saddle position feels normal, because it engages postural muscles a conventional seat pan lets you switch off. Start with a few hours a day rather than going straight to a full shift.

Is it suitable for a student or a younger user?

TODO: HÅG markets the Puls range as suitable for younger users on the 150mm lift — confirm the age guidance and any weight limit with your supplier before publishing, as this was not stated in the official factsheet we sourced.

What is covered by the warranty?

Ten years against manufacturing defects, based on normal use of up to nine hours per day. This is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which cannot be excluded.
